Project Description & Scope
Within Yosemite National Park, this $37.5 million project consisted of roadway resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation of 12 miles of the Tioga Pass Road, including eliminating off road/shoulder parking and reconfiguring/expanding parking areas within the Tuolumne Meadows and Tenaya Lake areas to improve the safety of pedestrians and drivers. The project included work at 12 parking sites within Tuolumne Meadows, 4 parking areas at Tenaya Lake, and heavy maintenance repairs to the Tuolumne River Bridge. This work was performed on mountainous terrain with the elevation ranging between 8,200 and 9,200 feet. All of the work was occurring in cultural and natural resource sensitive areas, and there were numerous environmental constraints that affected the construction schedule and type of operations.
Mozamo Engineering, Inc. provided construction inspection services, which included compliance with contract plans and specifications, SWPPP coordination, daily inspection reports, reviewing material quantities, coordinating materials for laboratory testing and evaluating material test reports, maintaining project files and supporting project documents, and project closeout activities.
