Project Description & Scope
This $158 million Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) project was to replace the Cosumnes River bridges and the Cosumnes River Overflow bridges with two new bridge structures. The current structures were in need of replacement due to age, wear, and outdated design to improve overall mobility and safety through this corridor. The southbound McConnell underpass and the existing northbound McConnell overhead structure were replaced with a single McConnell overhead structure for both northbound and southbound State Route (SR) 99.
Mozamo Engineering, Inc. (Mozamo) was providing roadway construction and inspection services for this project, which includes conducting weekly progress meetings, producing WSWDs and weekly newsletters, processing and preparing responses to RFIs and submittals for the Senior Construction Engineer, coordinating inspection activities with the Caltrans lead field inspector and Structures Representative, and reviewing quantity sheets and progress pay estimates. The Mozamo team was involved with the development of the traffic staging plans and proposing alternative construction methods that had assisted with the reduction of construction support cost and reduced construction impacts on the traveling public.
