Yolo 50/80 Pavement Rehabilitation

Project Description & Scope

This $241 million project includes constructing a continuous reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) overlay, rehabilitating ramps, upgrading existing barriers and guardrails, and installing fiber optic lines along a 7.3 mile stretch of I-80 and a 2.5 mile stretch of US-50 in Yolo County and West Sacramento. This project also includes bridge widening and bridge deck rehabilitation of two bridges along I-80 in West Sacramento and the bridge deck rehabilitation of the Yolo Causeway bridges.

is providing roadway construction and inspection services for this project, which includes coordinating inspection activities with the Caltrans lead field inspector and Structures Representative, communicating with METS on source inspection requirements and District Lab on JMF verification and production startup testing, scheduling lane closures with adjacent projects, and assisting the Public Information Officer respond to public inquires. While construction was occurring on this project, Caltrans was designing a future project at the same location that adds managed lanes in each direction, auxiliary lanes, and intelligent transportation. The Mozamo team coordinated with Caltrans Design and the contractor to accommodate these changes with minimal cost and schedule impacts, ensuring that construction and lane closure needs were met for both projects to keep them running smoothly and on schedule.
