Project Description & Scope
The Interstate 5 (I-5) Corridor Enhancement Project in Sacramento County extends from 1.1 mile south of the Elk Grove Boulevard Overcrossing to the American River Bridge. This $370 million project will rehabilitate pavement, construct new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, replace a pedestrian overcrossing, construct sound walls, install new fiber optic lines, new ramp meters and extend various entrance and exit ramps.
Mozamo is providing roadway construction and inspection services for this project, which includes conducting weekly progress meetings, processing and preparing responses to RFIs and submittals for the Senior Construction Engineer, coordinating inspection activities with the Caltrans lead field inspector and Structures Representative, overseeing the contractors’ field operations, performing force account analysis for CCOs, calculating HMA incentive/disincentive payments and oil price index adjustment, and training newly assigned inspectors. With the nature of such a massive project, this results in tens of millions of dollars in contract change orders and hundreds of contractor’s requests for information (RFIs) and submittals. The team made sure there was communication and coordination between all parties in order to critically relay change orders down to the field staff accurately and efficiently on a daily basis.
